Step 1

After being mixed well, water must be added to ensure the humidity is not less than 50% and does not exceed 55%. To check whether the moisture level is up to standard or not, you just need to hold the mixture in your hand and squeeze it again. If you see water running through your fingers, it means it meets the standards. 

Step 3

After the mixture has been incubated for 7 to 10 days, remember to check the situation. In case the compost pile appears black, it is a success. On the contrary, if the compost pile is light brown and the humidity is low, you must add more water and cover it tightly. 

Step 4

After 15 to 20 days, remember to check the compost pile. Can people use a hoe to dig in the middle of the compost pile to see if white mushrooms appear? Of course, we  have to pay attention to the compost pile temperature too! When the compost pile temperature is between 60 and 80 degrees Celsius, the composting process will take place quickly, helping to destroy disease-causing bacteria. If you are worried that the compost pile lacks moisture, add more water and stir well. Having finished everything, we gather it into a pile, cover it with tarpaulin, and carefully stuff the corners. 

From the 40th to 50th day from the time of incubation, farmers should remove the tarpaulin, continue stirring the mixture and watering more. By day 110 or more, when the mixture has decomposed softly, it can be fertilized directly to the plant.   • Ingredients
    • Husk: 200kg
    • Manure: 100 kg
    • Molasses: 600gr
    • Rice bran: 4kg

    • Step 1: Prepare incubation location

4.2 How to compost peanut shells

  • Ingredients
    • Peanut shells: 100kg (can be crushed, best ground)
    • Trichoderma Bacillus product – Duc Binh: 1 pack of 200gr

    • Molasses: 1 liter
  • How to proceed

5. What to keep in mind when composting rice husks and peanut shells.

Do not compost with quicklime

In the past, people in organic composting areas often used quicklime to speed up decomposition.
